The web design community has grown exponentially over the years, with new players promoting their business, skill-sets, and proficiency in all things related to web designs and development. In retrospect, not much has changed in the industry. The difference between now and back then is more options, but in terms of adherence to best practice, forget it, things appear to be getting even more chaotic, fanciful, and wild.
Given the rapid influx of rouge web authors with utter disregard for the W3C, another definition of the World Wide Web might not be a bad idea after all! The Wild Wild Web is probably the best description for the community of defiant web authors that continue to ignore web standards requirements and best practice recommendations.
